QR codes for nonprofits with a clear next step for supporters
A poster can start a conversation. A useful destination helps someone act on it. Give supporters a direct route to the project, donation page or volunteer opportunity you are describing.

Three places to start
Campaign poster
Open the relevant project and its next action.
Event handout
Find volunteer information after the conversation.
Project display
Read a current update about the work.
Keep the promise on the poster
If the poster asks someone to support a particular project, open a page about that project. State who is organizing it, what the contribution supports and where the donation link goes. Avoid sending every campaign to a general homepage.
Use a hosted Landing page to explain the appeal or a dynamic website code to point directly to your existing donation service. The payment provider should handle the donation transaction, confirmation and any applicable receipts.
Give each request enough room
Volunteering and donating are different decisions. Separate their destinations when you want to explain commitment, eligibility or payment details clearly. A List of links can work for a general information stand, where supporters choose what matters to them.
Make the organization’s name and a readable website visible beside the code. Check public posters for tampering during the campaign; a replacement sticker could send supporters somewhere you did not intend.
Plan the page after the appeal closes
A dynamic code can lead to a project update after a campaign ends. Explain that the original appeal has closed rather than quietly presenting a new one as the same request. Keep records of which printed materials used each destination.
Compare QR scan activity with completed donations in your donation platform. Repeat scans, abandoned forms and shared links mean these counts will differ. Use the difference to investigate the journey, not to claim that every scan produced a contribution.
Questions worth settling first
Does Editable QR Code collect donations?
The QR can link to your existing donation provider. Donation processing and receipts are handled by that provider, not by the QR page.
Should I use the same code on every poster?
You can. Separate dynamic codes for different placements make scan activity easier to compare, even when they lead to the same destination.
Put the guide into practice
Start with one useful destination.
Create and customise a static QR code, then sign up or log in to download it for free. Need to edit after printing? Explore dynamic codes with a seven-day Business trial, no card required. An active plan is needed to keep dynamic codes running after the trial and grace period.
